So as of version 2, we now have an online lobby to do multiplayer in. legoracer, Chosenlama and I tried it out yesterday, and it worked reasonably well. So today I'll again be in the lobby as often as possible so people can fight me. :)
Known issues:
Fights with big ships tend to have massive lag spikes / freezes. Stay with smaller fights (2k or less) for now until I can resolve the performance issues. On the plus side, you can make tiny ships now, so 2k can still be a battle involving 30 ships. :)
No auto-refresh of the games list. So if someone goes to create a game, you have to hit refresh manually to see it.
No notifications when users leave / create a game.
If you create a game and subsequently leave it, that game will have a bug where all ships will be pointing left. So, uh, don't do that until I've resolved that issue. :)
I'm currently deciding whether to do another minor update improving multiplayer or forge ahead with a big update that'll take a month or two but deliver some major new features. What do you think?
I agree with legoracer here, i would also suggest you send out some press copies to youtubers, the game has enough content that it'll be valid. furthermore i suggest you tweak the AI since about 7 minutes after the game starts, the AI just sits around and does nothing
Press copies are definitely being emitted - I'll be doing another major push of that tomorrow. :) If you have any suggestions for YouTubers who could be interested, let me know.
And thanks for reporting the AI issue. I'll see if it gets stuck or something. It's possible the cities get too well-defended and timid after a time. (Earlier in development it was the opposite: a constant back and forth of invading fleets, cities swapping owners three times a minute.)
Aerial Emperor
