I have an idea how the game should be a more interresting place for people which want to play the game in a more complex world.
My idea is to extend the max. worldsize to the scale of (only extrem example!) Earth.
In this world the player is able to play the game in a more realistic way. For example: A ship needs in the game today extrem less time to travel between two citys. And the travelingspeed is for all ships identicly. In this world should it be able to send ships in the realtime morning to a distand city and it arrives at the evening.
When the ship attacks now the city, the game doesn't freeze. Other players in the world are still able to send ships and so on.
The world is not limited to a small number of players. In this world should it be able to play with an "enourmouse" number of players. Everyone can start political negotiations with each other and start alliances. I think this should be most interessting way why the layout for the political communication is an important part for my concept.
What happens when a player dominates a world?
My idea is in such a case is to start in some citys a revolt and the main player lose control of the city. In such a case a new player, joining the game for the first time get's the controle with some bonus and can start now the game. This is also the way to join the game. It shouldn't be limited to dominant players. It should be also a threat for normal people.
How will you lose the control of a city and what could you do against it?
I think you lose only the control of a city when you conquer a city, left it and show no intrest in it (low intelligence in the city or things like that). Like in realive. A population isn't happy when the King ignore a city or neglect it. This should be also the case when the player stay to long offline "and the people start to ask where the King is and why only the deputy rule the Kingdom". So i think you know how I want to solve this problem.
I know that this should be a lot of work for someone who knows to program it. But I think it should be good to say what I think to give it a base where someone can start. I am not a programmer and I don't something a bout but I want to discuss with you and want to hear your ideas for a gamemode for the game.
This is my first post in this forum so plaese be merciful with me when I do some mistakes.
I hope you like my idea and say what you think about.

So you suggested Zarkonnen to turn his game into some mmo ? That's a complete rework of the game and it can take ages to perform such a task !
Of course, multiplayer campaigns can be cool in lan but with real time strategic campaign I don't want to be fired because I said to my boss I was unable to work for several hours because I was about to loose a city !! ^^
If you pay Zarkonnen's bill for a complete system of servers and for my monthly suscription, maybe I will give it a try during my free times, assuming Zarkonnen will be still capable of launching 1.0 version of this with white beard and no more hair ! lol
I'm afraid what you suggest is way beyond the scope of what I can do, sorry. Making a game massive multiplayer makes it ten times more work, basically, so it's not going to happen.
rage3069 - So yep, I agree with you, but please be nice to people newly coming onto the forums and making suggestions. Enthusiasm is good, and it doesn't hurt to ask for things you'd like!
Sorry, my reply was not intended to be aggressive but maybe it was a little to much sarcastic (It's the problem when you are trying to make some humor and english is not your born language ^^).
@Nikroma Sorry for that ! Take it with second degree ! MMO development are really painfull and you probably need a full team of "soldiers" to obtain some results... And with server's fee into account, you probably need to charge customers with monthly suscription too...
I mean that this should only be a type of mod or something like that. Not to be the main part of the game.
I agree with you that the server costs will kill the programmers. But like in Minecraft !should! it be possible to operate on own servers by the player. This should mean that you have too meat every weekend or so to play with 30 or !less! people which you know from e.g. the forum for 4-6 hours. This would propaply mean that you play on a higher timespeed.
It doesn't need to be a mmo. It needs (in my low density of knowledge) only a better modable input for some parameter like timespeed and speed of ships an so on.
I accept that it would needs ages to programm the thing with joining, losing citys, and the other things but it's only a dream of mine and I wanted to know your oppinion and here is it.
@rage3069 no problem I understand your critic and smiled a little bit so you did nothing wrong.
Thanks alot for your comments and I wait for more :). Here is enough space for more crazy ideas. :D
Oh I think I am wrong with this topic. It should be under Suggestion and .... .
I'm totally for multiplayer campaign with an optional real time setting ^^! Yes, you can probably host a server at home, but to be efficient it has to be a dedicate server. And I don't know if Zarkonnen want to add lan campaign...
There's a game "neptune's pride" which is a sort of long-term multiplayer strategy game-thing.
You'll play a game over multiple weeks instead of a couple hours. Ships take days/hours to fly between star systems and there's no turn system or anything. It'll make more sense if you just watch a game happening.
It has moments that are actually pretty interesting but it can be kinda boring but it has some pretty interesting moments of "knowing that mega fleet is going to murder your home world in 9 hours and you'll never be able to build enough ships to stop it in time." Its not an MMO by any stretch its limited to smaller groups of like 8-16 people usually but it takes place in a persistent game session that is always active for every player.
