Yes, there is now a beta version of dev8. You can get it from the downloads page or by opting in from the Steam properties of the game:
Why a beta for a game that's in early access and hence already clearly marked as "not done"? Because when dev8 drops, I want to do a bit of a PR push, and so I want to make sure there's no super-embarassing bugs.
So if you're up for some testing, try out the beta, and let me know about anything and everything that goes wrong!
Also, you can start playing around with the new data-driven modding. You can download, install and dissect some example mods and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Hm, what do you mean by that? There's ships for the AI, but do you mean ships for players? Also, what modules were you thinking of? You're also free to take the mod and extend it. :)

Wow, you answered my unasked questions!
I suppose someone should make a sticky thread somewhere for listing dev8 bugs, I'll start trying to hunt some today as well.
Aerial Emperor
So beta 1 was plain broken for everyone who wasn't me, but hopefully beta 2 has now fixed that. :D
Air Admiral
Could you possibly improve upon the "No suspendium mod" by making it into a sub-campaign. Complete with ships and a couple modules?
I could supply the ships, and modules, i'm just curious if it would be too much work considering what you are already putting up with.

Air Admiral
Well, i mean make the mod into a sub-campaign. I'm talking about ships that the A.I can use when you play the campaign.
And more modules, so it can more more like a whole new campaign.
In other words i'm talking about making the mod compatible with the campaign.
Aerial Emperor
It is compatible! There's a whole database of ships with hydrogen and helium balloons included in the mod.
Commander, Engineering Corps
Awesome, can't wait to try this. Also, finally, something that might take my attention off Xcom for a little bit.
