Does anyone else design ships purposely for dropping onto enemies to crush them?
I'm in the early game (medium, large map) and so far that's working really well for me. I have one ship designed around this tactic, and I really think I'm going to have to design more. It does have obvious short comings in that it can't crush ships that stay above it, and you have to hope the ship doesn't move out of the way when you're coming in to crushing it. It's amazing against slow ships and buildings!
Anyway, I've had an absolute blast with it, and figured I couldn't be the only one doing this. I think my next step might be to design a ship that looks like a red clad Italian plumber...
I've had the AI do that to me strategically many times to their great success. The thought had occurred to me to design a ship for that purpose but I've only been playing a little while and haven't had a chance to get some time away from life to indulge.
Sure, when I decide to ram a ship into the ground, the damage is little to none, but when the ship gets destroyed and falls to the ground it CUTS MY ENTIRE SHIP IN HALF.

It's totally a valid tactic, yeah. :) Also useful for pinning down ships and keeping them in the firing arc range of your weapons you out of theirs.

Think we should have expensive rubber blocks that act exactly like scaffolding, but take only 10% of collision damage?
