I have been watching a lot of game of thrones recently and I got an idea for the game from it. In the show there is a disease called grey scale where if touched by an infected person your skin will slowly start to turn into dark grey scales, and once your whole body is covered you will become completely insane and try to kill everyone around you. What people did to stop the disease from spreading was to bring all of the infect people to an abandoned city.
what if in airships sometimes crew members (or whole ships) could contract something similar to grey scale from GOT, and you will have the choice to banish them to a secluded area of the map, or take a chance and try to cure it. AI could have the problem to, and if someone tries to save a crew and fails, the ship could go rogue and go on to infect other ships by boarding there ships and trying to kill their crew (spreading the infection). They wouldn't use the guns on the ship,they would just clumsily ram into a ship and jump out onto it. They wouldn't have their own heraldry, they would just travel around the map ravaging cities, Their only goal being to murder.
Also the way crews could contract the disease would be having to bring your fleet through an area that your city or another city banished crews that had the disease to get to another location, and when you did this there would be a chance that you would be put into combat with the crazy grey scale people, and if they managed to jump aboard your ship, and your crew got away carrying the disease, it could mean doom for the whole country.

This idea sounds more at home with Sunless Sea than Airships, since crew come with the pricetag of the ship and are pretty much just goons that do a job at the moment.
It could be viable as a thing where after fighting a bane (like giant owls) an airship crew may catch some horrible disease, and you either have the option of abandoning the ship and crew or letting it dock with a port and risking the city getting wrecked.
yeah idk, I just like the idea of having more internal affairs, i hope zark gets an idea from this.
and it would be in the theme of v9 focusing on the crew (Kraken eating crew, fleshcrackers eating crew, spiders eating crew)
Actually, you could make it an in-combat debuff that follows infected ships around.
Infected crewmembers lose health very slowly, are slow themselves and are generally bad.
They are especially horrible (or amazing if they're boarders) as they have a chance to infect nearby crewmembers in the same room.
are you talking about like a common disease like dysentery or someone else? My whole idea was a disease driving a crew mad until breaking point where they start killing and boarding other ships
..And then add that when the crew members health becomes 0 from the disease (and not from anything else) he becomes an abomination that moves with superhuman speed and mindlessly attacks everything and can decimate airships from the inside.
Kinda like some parasite similar to the Flood from halo, or more recently the monster from Stranger Things, subtract the hiding in an alternate universe thing.
yeah, it would be an interesting feature. It could also possible tie into the terror weapons used by mad scientists. ALSO another suggestion it would be cool if either the cultists or mad scientists could be able to build a machine with big long arms similar to the tentacles but metal and smaller. So it could grab people and throw them into a cell aboard the ship for later use... (just a guess, maybe it could be done with the same coding with the kraken where it grabs people and brings them towards the mouth, but instead of tentacles its giant arms and instead of a mouth its some sort of cell
