Hi! I've been playing a few rounds and I've found it quite annoying how there isn't any way to counteract spies. This is especially frustrating if you only have one city and the enemy is delaying your ship production. You can't build a ship elsewhere and you are limited to your existing fleet for awhile while a ship tries to build. This could spell the end if the enemy sends a fleet to finish you off. Overall I do like the concept of espionage and I realize that it is new and in development.
Maybe there could be a certain chance that your own spies will catch them. The more spies/guards you hire for your own city, the better that chance will be.
When a spy gets caught, there could be a dumb little randomly generated story about what happened. Something like "At 8:00 pm, a spy tried to sabotage of the building of "X". Luckily for us, he didn't realize that our style of building is really strange, and he walked right off the scaffolding."
I'm don't think the espionage gameplay should really be too involved, because then the game isn't about airships and battles. Unless someone has a better idea.
Something like this is coming in version 4.1: you can select a level of secret police who will... discourage enemy spies. Also, welcome to the forums, @AdmiralJRH! Do introduce yourself if you feel like it, and consider signing up for some multiplayer action.

Yeah, I agree. Perhaps though, there could be a cooldown time for espionage activities in each city. That would solve the problem I've been having.
