I had an idea for a multiplayer campaign more that uses a large map, the players are unable to speed up or slow down time unless both players agree and the ships move more considerably slower.
Games would always be running and hosted on a seperate server that the fighting players would access, do what they need to do and send their ships to attack a city. the ships would spend real time traveling from one city to another and players receive an email when a enemy fleet comes withing range of a city and has 30 minutes or so before it arrives, giving the defending player time to log on and set up what defences they can in the city.
Multiple games can be played at any one time by a player but perhapse have a hard limit of 5 or so games going at one time.
