The google sheets you created for translation begin to be a little messy and outdated... I summarize it to help you :
The 6.2.1 version using now around 1577 text variables (xx.properties file), minus some spaces between sections. All sheets in there only have 1257 lines (first versions). Misc sheets don't take into account your xx.combathelp.txt and xx.editorhelp.txt.
Considering english and deutch are already implemented in the actual version, is it possible to update both with correct number of lines and actual values and lock the corresponding sheets with a name like "English V6.2.1 Final" and "Deutch V6.2.1 Final" ?
Point for the other translations :
Spanish (~ 870 lines, great job !)
Italian (~ 180 lines)
Polish (~40 lines)
Mandarin Chinese (~ 600 lines - My respect to the one who did this !^^)
French (almost done but not fully appropriate in the context and seems to be google translation for some parts)
I know you probably don't have the time for now as you working on the 6.3 and preparing the AMAZE Berlin ! ^_^
If you're agree with that, I can add the two new sheets by myself (English and Deutch 6.2.1 final) plus adding other file contains in one new misc sheet by language. I made a small program this morning which separate the 1561 variables and their respective values (using xx.properties file) and create two txt files (easier for copy/paste on sheets, and no possibility of errors).
My own french translation will be over probably by the next monday and I will create a new sheet for it directly (~15 hours on it already and tested in context too).
By the way, for language translators, we need the support for special characters to fully integrate our work in your game. If you can add this to your todo list, I will be pleased.
Finally, I invite the other translators and future ones to report themselves in this topic, to know who "does/did/will do" what! A special place on the forum for translators and correctors could help a lot (maybe to add to the todo list too ! ;p )
Thanks for reading me and thanks again for your game, Zarkonnen.
I have definitely not been giving the translation effort the attention it deserves. I would be very glad for your additions and updates. 6.3 ought to be a good point to try and get some translations in.
And yes, of course special character support can be added as needed to make things work correctly. This may be a bit tricky for Mandarin, but I'll find a way.
German V6.2.1 Official / German V6.2.1 Misc Official Files / English V6.2.1 Official / English V6.2.1 Misc Official Files are created and up to date (based on game files). These four sheets are locked except for you and me (for now) and may be used only as exemples for actual and future translators. Each time you release a new version, we could simply update these sheets and rename them. Bonus, i prototyped a sheet specially for you to communicate the new variables and texts "before" each new release.
For the french file, here's a list of letters which should be supported : ['] and [é è ê à â ç] in lowercase and if possible uppercase... Unfortunately, I can't tell the needs for other languages for now (Mandarin included O_O )...
Adding a sheet of rules for translators and several minor layout corrections.
If you're the main translator for german and english version, I suggest a sheet removing for these two old versions (+ the one named deutch) - only comments needed in the official translation sheets for correction purposes.
There is definitively no needs for new full german and english translations ! ^^
EDIT : V6.3 is out... Update for the sheets too ! lol
^^ you're a brain killer Zarkonnen ! Positionning variables in different orders in each files... I'm pretty sure future translators will be pleased ! lol
BTW, I can't wait to test the 6.3 this weekend. I've only seen new decals, new modules and one new background so far, but I'm sure it's a great release ! (Need to work on the french translation though !)
Full French translation based on 6.3 is on google sheets. It takes me 10 hours today to finish everything. Need testing though and probably some heraldry corrections (this part was pretty hard and I need time to be sure it fit perfectly - I was lost in a french heraldry encyclopedia for 2 hours this afternoon...).
Man... Maybe now I can enjoy the 6.3 a little ! lol
Yep, the extra letters should now be in. Unfortunately, the news system is English-only at the moment.
What's the most sensible way for me to add new translation keys as they come up? You've organized things, and I don't want to come in and mess up your organization!
Also, under what name would you like to be credited in-game?
1- Ok we have time for the news system... maybe one day... ^^
2- If my arrangement please you, it's okay for me ! But if you think about something else that is more convenient for you, don't hesitate !
3- That's an honor Zarkonnen ! You can credit me with my real name Régis Virieux.
We need to discuss about heraldry text in french version. For coat of arm colors, to stick with the particulary language associated with heraldry, I named the color with a "preposition" before them. This preposition can be "De" ou "D'" (example: D'Azur). Colors in building/aircraft editor use these text variables too when the cursor is over them, but there, the preposition doesn't make any sense.
I have four proposals :
1- Editor can use different variables to display the text of the color/ duplicating color variables for editor and heraldry text.
2- Add two variables that contain the two prepositions. In english, the variables will stay empty.
3- Hide the info text when the cursor is over colors in editor (like in coat of arm editor).
4- I can change the heraldry text to become more standard text, using only the variables you create first.
Alright, google sheets has been updated with 6.4 values for german, english and french translations. I take into account only the new german intro you wrote, deleting the old one (the old file named de-intro-orig.txt was downloaded during the update process).
Minor corrections in french translation has been made for next version / update.
ENTER variable still not linked to translation value.
Extra letter missing : ù and probably Ù (so far...)
Credit screen does not take extra letters into account (You can replace my "é" with "e" if you want ^^ or if you can use extra letters, for the other guy too, you can replace "Jerome" by "Jérôme" ;) )
I think it will be usefull to separate heraldry color names from decoration color names. Actually, heraldry colors are only used for coat of arms and it can be confusing for players (plus translation problems I reported in my last reply). By doing this, you will be able to add more colors for ship customization which are not allowed in heraldry rules.
New graphical improvements are great ! Sorting possibilities and new action bar are really handy too ! Really good job !
It seems AI build more defenses than before, can you confirm ?

Oops, looks like there is gonna have to be a 6.3.1 at some point... Thank you!

WOOOO, amazing!
I shall look at it and start the steps to getting it into the game proper. :)
Captain
Thanks, don't forget about [É Ê È é ê è ë - Ç ç - À à] support :p (something like QUOTE is okay for me !]
I'm ready when you are for french integration !
Great job with this version ! Effects, lights, backgrounds and new modules are awesome !
I will post later this day for some minor bugs i found... But nothing really troublesome !
Aerial Emperor
NB I'm now finally getting started on putting the French translation in, so it will feature in v6.4. :)
Aerial Emperor
Well, that was fast and painless! Airships now has a French translation!
Captain
Yes, you made it !!! Sorry, I was afk for several days !! Really good job Zarkonnen !!
Edit: Based on this screenshot, I forgot about the "ù" "â" "Â" and "Û" in my previous message... Sorry 'bout that !
Translation for VERSION 6.3 message is (probably two private variables only you can modify):
VERSION 6.3
La version 6.3 est sortie, apportant beaucoup d'améliorations graphiques et de nombreuses corrections de bugs.
So, what's the next step ? Direct translation "on the fly" before each new release ? ^^(You already have my mail, don't hesitate !)
Btw, any news for the bugs i reported before the Amaze Berlin ?
