For the land ships maybe there should be a limit to the size of the vehicles you can build. If you added something like leg strength (only on the legs) which is a weight limit. But if you do implement this, you should make the limit quite big because otherwise there would be no point to making land ships.
If you do read this, thanks. =-)
The legs do indeed have a limited strength. The way it works is that they're modeled as springs, so if you put too much load on them, your landship's body will be too low down. So you can make a pretty overloaded ship that's only capable of travelling over perfectly level terrain, but then all your opponent has to do is make a tiny soil ditch or wall...
Most of the landships in the game seem (from the spoilers you've posted) to be quadrupeds, will there be small versions of legs for making fast little bipedal landships as well or a limit to how many leg components can be added to a ship (for example, will you only be able to have 4 legged ships but more components=more strength)?
Hmm... What about tanks? There was an idea long ago - to make a train-like steam powered wessel on a single track... Watch the wikipedia for more info if interested. I have nothing against legs, they are very-very steampunk, but as an egineer, I have to admit that tracks are better for movement.
As I think, legs should be a landing solution for airships (there was a steampunk mod for KSP, where it looked cool), but in land combat, they will look a little awkward ...
Or at least make tracks for Huge airships... I have nothing against small bipedal ATs.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for clarifying

The current idea is that there'll be 3-4 leg sizes:
Also, you can just put multiple legs modules onto a landship, and that'll work fine.

I only just read the developers blog about the springs. Thanks anyway
