Alright, so every time there is a boarding ship in a battle, it tends to send its boarders and then fly off to sit in a corner, it makes it a stand off to my flak defense. I haven't found one way to win, and my flak defense does have a built in long range, the only problem is that it got destroyed in the fighting, i suppose its not really a bug but it does make it unfair.
Yeah, if it's unable to optimize for dealing you damage, it's going to optimize for not taking damage instead. Which can lead to these sorts of boring outcomes.
I don't think it's too unfair. Just flee from the battle, and return with ships better equipped for boarders.
Although, if the boarding fails, perhaps that can be a condition of the enemy retreating or surrendering.
Flee from the battle? even though its them attacking me and holding me there? that makes no sense that i would flee from a battle when its them technically fleeing.

Or basically, force the ennemy ship to use his guns once bording team is dead... (I think I've already seen another Topic about this problem).
Fleeing from city defense because the attacker decide to wait somewhere is a little bit illogical ^^
Let's just say IA behavior will probably evolve until completion of the game, so for now, CodyRex10, try to build different kind of defenses in multiple building to avoid this outcome (it works for me)...
Timer... Someone on this forum already mentioned this and Zark ignored.
We need a timer! It solves so many problems! Let it be constant (5 minutes?) for now, and after 5 minutes it is a Draw. That easy! No more stupid moves like that from AI will go unpunished.
Later when battles will be configurable, it will be possible to make variable timer, a parameter just like money.
The only problem I see is that almost all MY ships will be in disadvantage, coz I usually take A LOT of ammo and coal!..
But there is another option. You can change AI to flee from battle, if it is attaking, and no one fired a single shot in a minite or so.
Permanently timer is often a double edge sword... I like your last suggestion much / hidden timer(s) by ships or by fleet resetting each time a bullet is fired... and if timer reach 1min -> force to flee. Not for defender of course...
