Air Lord, Engineering Corps
Note hat this is a far fetched discussion for the far future of Airships when campaign updates start to come in, also look at the Titan Modules discussion for a better background in this idea
As discussed in Titan Modules (https://airships.zarkonnen.com/forum/2/topic/367) me and a few people (note to self put the usernames here) thought that a vast evil entity to fight would make for an (more) awesome campaign!
What does this mean exactly? It means every single city is a satellite state of the name-here(suggestions?) evil empire! And you are some random guy who want's to liberate the mostly ignored outer cities, slowly amass an army and then forcefully take over the more loyal cities and finally the Capitol(s).
This is not the hunger games. More like 1984 when it comes to the actual cities/fleets of the main enemy of the campaign meaning if you are too aggressive/become a perceived threat a huge force may just take you out with no remorse, think of it like a "don't poke the bear" mechanic.
The nameless empire also has advanced ships with technology you can never unlock in the form of rare ships with overpowered equipment, not unlockable because of the unbalance it would cause. These ships could serve as enforcers and when defeated the military retreats/gives up that city.
There are also three types of militaries now:
Revolutionaries: your army, starts off garbage but as you gain support from other cities it will eventually rival the evil empire, it's like the normal campaign for customization and stuff.
Coastal defence: most common enemy, normal campaign ships that invade you/defend cities. Depending on the city the coastal defence is always different but always aligned with the evil empire.
Royal Navy (?): evil empire armies, same team as coastal defence and rarer and more powerful, entirely made up of unique units with more a foreboding colour scheme and unique equipment. The guys that kill you early in if you make too much noise or the guys you ultimately defeat in the end.
For lore purposes, let's say the evil empire (please someone think of a imposing name, seems silly saying "evil empire") learned how to use suspendium and other technologies earlier than everybody else by far, and got really really advanced compared to other factions.
I absolutely adore this idea (for some reason this reminds me of FTL).
This will definitely spice up the gameplay. Now I'm not very good with names, but since this "evil empire" is incredibly OP, it should have something to do with Zarkonnen. I have no clue exactly what, but I'm sure someone can figure something out.
I like the idea of Zarkonnen being the ruler of said empire for some reason!
Zarkonnen the ruler of the Great Bri... Ah Evil Empire? Yes please!
this seems like a very cool idea, but I think it should be alternate to the current campaign, as this idea seems like more of a "challenge" gamemode than a main gamemode to me.
Yes, that's what I was thinking. The campaign right now isn't bad, so why throw it out? As Tortuga said it should be a different gamemode.
Yeah it could be a new mode, but the current campaign could be called 'conquest' since I think campaign makes more sense in this scinerio, kind of like how Starwars EAW had a galactic conquest (no story, just take over everything) and a story(ish) driven campaign.
oh a good name for this evil empire would be The Ariel empire since the creator of the game is named the ariel emperor
