Why not making it falling, but on the sides? It would travel a bit of distance left or right while falling, and it would slide a big if it hit the dirt.
hmmm, this could be cool, maybe there could be some similar code put in place where big airships could nosedive and do this, similar to the airplane crashing mechanics

That would be an especially useful mechanic.
