Hi, been playing this game a bit lately and Iv'e noticed some issues with conquest mode that is just annoying.
In most games where you have a skirmish mode there is a technique that proves most effective, play a game enough and most people can figure it out.
this technique usually involves gaming the AI in a particular way or building certain vehicles. or going certain places.
In airships, there is one simple tactic that will win most games. Blitzkrieg, you build small armies say 2-3 ships in size and you just keep taking over towns with them and choosing pillage.
you keep moving and you very quickly find you are overrunning your enemy.
once you kill whatever town lets them build their most annoying ship (usually rockets). you have pretty much won the game.
The game becomes basically a race to the finish line, you have to move fast
you roll town after town after town, and clean up any straggling enemy
ships behind your lines using another fleet.
This is annoying, the game is just so quick, you can't really use any other tactics, land ships are really pointless for the most part.
I would like to see an effort put in to stop that particular approach to gameplay, its boring and too easy.
my suggestions to help with this:
Fortress towns-
occasionally have the ai decide to fortify a strategically important town with a much larger fort than normal and keep a couple of ships there.
(this would force you to build bigger fleets and bigger ships)
Home base-
home bases earn more money, they should let you build bigger bases on them, the ai should also fortify them more.
Nerf some stuff-
boarding parties are OP - can capture multiple ships one after the other
rockets - seem to be too accurate.
more ai ships-
the ai build a very small selection of ships, once you learn what each
does you can easily beat them.
Surrender less-
the surrender conditions are a mess, add in a draw mechanic if niether side can continue a fight. if both sides run out of ammo or the ability to control ships then there needs to be a draw mechanic.
if your fighting on a town, home base wins but if you intercept someone you should be able to draw a match.
seems a bit silly being able to disable all enemy ships, then run out of ammo while defending a city and still lose.
supplies-
a major factor with blitzkreig tactics is supply lines, they do not exist in airships, immediately after a fight ships are resupplied and partially repaired. you dont need to be at a friendly town, your just all better.
Id love to have to build cargo carrying blimps to follow my ships around
and resupply them.
this would mean after a couple of battles you would have to slow down.
(theres a really buggy tactic you can use, just flee after causing a bit of damage, then immediately attack again, this gives you repaired modules, full ammo, full crew - true the enemy has the same, but any destroyed bits of ship are gone meaning you can slowly grind down the enemy this way.)
I pretty much agree with everything said on this thread. But then again, Fern, if the game sounds too easy for you, you can always give yourself a disadvantage, like only using ships worth 600 or less, or waiting until only you and another remains...

anyhow. hope that helps. love the game anyway.

Everything you've stated is more or less true, fortunately the conquer mode is receiving a major overhaul in the near future (v.10 I believe).
