I really like the construction style in the game and I love how I can customize every aspect of my airship. I'd like to see more customization in the towns. Right now what you build in your cities is purely defensive, I'd like to see maybe some economy buildings. For example I mentioned strategic resources in my last topic maybe a suspendium mine, some logging camps or houses and apartments. Maybe the mine and the logging camp might boost production of a certain strategic resource and the houses could increase the population which you enlist your crew from. You could position these buildings entirely separate from your defensive buildings, so when you click on your city it comes up with economy and defenses.
Another aspect I'd like to suggest would be some kind of morale system. I find it funny when I see a flaming wooden husk of an airship on the ground being bombarded by rifle, cannon and grenade fire with two crewmen firing rifles out the windows. I believe maybe some kind of morale system where if the AI is up against a vastly superior force, losing drastically, badly damaged and on fire or is grounded with core systems destroyed surrenders to the enemy. The AI might give the player some conditions like we'll pay you 2000 generic credits or you can have one of our ships if you let us go. If the player refuses and continues the assault the AI might offer an unconditional surrender where you imprison, enslave, execute, ransom whatever and occupy their ships where you can loot them of supplies and scrap them or repair them and use them in your own fleet.
Also I'd like to add after winning the battle you'd be given the option to try and repair and use some of the downed enemy airships if they're not beyond saving, capture any surviving crew, scrap the husks of ships and loot them of any supplies.
I understand this is an Indie game and I have suggested a million things, I do not wish to topple the plan I only wish to supplement it. So possibly in future updates down the track the foundation or even just the scaffolding for some of these elements could be implemented.
Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestions.
What I think would be a nicer option would be for a supposed "suspendium mine, some logging camps or houses and apartments" to lower the cost of the certain modules (suspendium mine would lower the cost of suspendium levitating thingy or the new gun, logging camp lowers the cost of wood parts etc). This would have to local to each town. But what do I know, i don't make games :P
These are cool ideas - I haven't really made up my mind about how much internal structure (ie buildings) cities are going to to have, and I've been putting it off to concentrate on combat-related things.
Looting is a thing that would be cool, especially since I want to start the player on a "lower rung" - you'll be a pirate/adventurer before you found your empire. :)
Maybe morale can also have a basis in the size of the ship, a dreadnought would make them scared. It would help with buffing large ships, you can check size based on price to prevent huge corridor ships.

I also think looting is the way to go, because I remember I lost a ship that was grounded, but was still alive. I don't get it... I really think it should be implemented.
I also like the idea of starting out really "weak" and only having one ship. Also if you have another ship, you can choose which one you want to be on and it will have more buffs. And you could hire captains to lead the other ships, and they would have boosts. And if you won a lot of battles, you would gain imfamy and going into earlier morale, you would make the enemy ships have lower morale.

I've got good news for you. I'm currently polishing up a mod, Bread & Games, I call it. It adds a new economic systems, 30 new buildings, a diplomacy system, consisting on alliances, treaties, and declarations of war. I'm planning on adding trade, and it currently has three strategic resources, Coal, Ammo, and Crew.
