With the theme of flying sea creatures like the Kraken, I think it would be an interesting campaign feature to add flying whales. Whales will be a random occurrence they will be spotted when near one of your owned cities or if near a blimp/tank moving on the map these whales can only be engaged with airships to kill a whale it is recommended to have a harpoon if you have a harpoon attached to the whale and then kill it you will have to a transport it to a city where the beast will be processed and produce a large sum of money. If you kill the whale without a harpoon attached to it, it will fall down and you will "spoil some of the meat" meaning that you will not get as much money for the kill. Also after you kill a whale and are transporting to back to a city you can be ambushed by other factions and if you lose the fight the whale will be stolen from you and of course what can happen to you can happen to them meaning you can attack other ships whaling vessels. Whales can fight back the whale's attacks will be a ram attack, tail smack, and the whale will be toothed (like a sperm whale) so it can bite. I hope you guys think that this will be a good addition to the game if you disagree with this please tell me why.
I understand this idea may be a bit out of date in some form but I'd really like for zark to give his opinion on this! It just seems like such an interesting idea that could fit in the game so well.
Just because one game is about something doesn't mean that another game can't include that thing. plus it's not like the entire game won't be about whales if you add this.
I'm surprised anybody even rememberd it, sorry to be blunt but Zarkonnen you do realize you could use that exact same logic and say "I've decided against a customizable airships game because there is already a customizable airships game (windforge link)."
It's just a small element of the game, it's not stealing/taboo to have similar things in games with a similar theme, it should be obvious to anybody that you weren't copying Windforge since Airships isn't even really comparable to it.
You know that just gave an idea... I know this may sound far-fetched... Well, far-fetched is an understatement... Is there any possibility I could... Buy Windforge? As in... Buy the ownership to the game and (perhaps) even finish it? If any of you guys have any experience with this please let me know...
You'd be better off just creating your own game, Windforge was built by a team of people over a few years.
That's way too much programming/systems/whatever to just jump into and expect to know how every little bit interacts with every other little bit and how to add onto that unless you were there from the start/still had the original team.
That's a complicated proposition. Brief research reveals that the title is simply on hiatus or isn't profitable atm for Snowed In Studios - I imagine if they decided to no longer exist, or discontinue the title, they would announce as such. Their clientele are solid enough to continue existing, and they mention "We’ve also developed some nice technology that we hope to use for our own game in 2016." - which suggests Windofrge, being the only title they have published.
The title is still for sale.
I doubt you could purchase it; not for any practical amount anyway. Not sure your, erm, interpretations on source code - but Firebird11 is correct.
Guess not, although, now that he's added biplanes and such to the game I can imagine tons of these little planes swarming around a massive sky-whale. I would love to see that fight.
Whales are an interesting idea but what I've found while playing are the bee hives and some other world items, AKA the things that will get you large sums of money but are a bit hard to kill. So whales wouldn't be such a ground breaking idea as the beehives themselves can supply you 3k gold just in one hive. It is quite interesting though but I believe this game already has something similar to it that are pretty close, jsut less "complex".

Seems like a great idea!

I am a bit disappointed that you are the only one that responded to this. I would liked to have gotten more feedback on this.
Aerial Emperor
So I specifically decided against flying whales because there's another steampunk airship-building game that's heavily about flying whales.

Windforge died in development almost two years ago, Zarkonnen. It's a game that will never be finished.

I agree with Kaleb. And besides, as long as it's not too similar to windforge, we'll probably be fine.

Firebird11 has a good point.

Perhaps... I'm not sure about anything right now...

Still no whales?

You have beta? I've tried planes on the Kraken and it goes downhill pretty quickly. The whale would have the AOE bite, right? Planes all die.
Air Admiral
Does the kraken even have the A.I. to fight against fighters?
Commodore
no but all my aircraft carriers have no guns

reminds me of civ 6: WE DEMAND WHALES!!! WE DEMAND WHALES!!!
