so i want to make it short(since i've seen that a lot of people add a long long text somewhere here)
i want map size to be optional like:
small - map is smaller than the deafult size.
medium - deafult map size.
large/big - bigger than the deafult map(about 1.5 to 2 times bigger).
massive - idk,3 times bigger?.
also a custom setting thing to change the size by your own(from 0.5 up to 10 times bigger than the original size).
that would also give artillery more use since you cant really use it at the moment.
then random encounters whilst cruising to battle:
you encountered enemy forces!
enemy had spies in your fleet and knew that you were coming(some more ships to defend the city).
it's a trap!(yes some enemies spawn behind you and you basiccly get sandwiched plus you cant retreat/withdraw ships).
then ground forces(i saw that you had some problems and i thought of some solutions).
when a lot of men get into one spot then just add a flag/sign that says how many is in that one spot and ground battles would be kewl.
tanks could be armor and support ground troops and act as a shield(like they did and still do in real life).
so the shield tanks would'nt be OP add anti tank weapons.
so shield tanks could defend themselves add anti personel weapons.
now some ship weapon ideas:
flamethowers --- already in game
machineguns --- also already in game
but what about ARTILLERY CANNONS!? - "artillery,FIRE" (medium to long range anti ship weapon)yes i love artillery,i love that ww2 ships had them and i will always love them.
mortars --- short to medium range weapon to shatter enemies from above(possibly anti personel).
turrets --- can turn around and shoot stuff behind the ship(might be in game already but since i'm not sure idk).
harpoons --- pulls ships together and ideal for boarding(something to cut the ropes for balancing) and also might be in game idk.
that is everything from me,i'd like feedback and thought, but til the next time - stay hydrated
well, A: the map sizes have been done with mods, theres even a new one.
B: not much to go on for the artillery, really.
C: i mean, thats the same as them moving a massive fleet you didnt know they had to the battle you are going to, which the AI does all the time.
D: ground troops arent really a problem anymore, from what ive heard.
E: you can sort of already do that with tanks :P.
F: theres the info on the artillery cannons, them and the mortars are a cool concept, but might be OP, and the rest of the guns you mentioned are already in the game :P (the "turrets" are ventral and dorsal guns)
Harpoons are already in-game. Ventral and Dorsal turrets are already in-game. Also Deck Guns. Artillery might be interesting, but you could use Heavy Cannons for that. Mortars have already been suggested before, basically they're way too taxing on the PC, and would make the game slow to a crawl. (Apparently curved shots are constantly requiring new calculations)
I actually do like the idea of random encounters, especially the "It's a trap!" scenario. Maybe make the Flee option unavailable when that occurs? But that might seem a bit too random and punishing for no real reason, so perhaps Intelligence and Spy Networks could somehow be involved?
I like your idea of fitting ground troops in like that. Seems pretty sensible.
One thing I should note for future reference, it's pretty unlikely that Zark will add a lot of new modules for sake of keeping the game from getting bloated and over-complicated. Especially new weapons. The issue of balance also comes into play here, and that's been plaguing us for years.
To end on a lighter note, seeing as you really like Naval artillery... :)
