I think that in conquest, crews should have some more value and will cost you if you loose them, so therefore their should be lifeboats. These will simply transport crew of the map if you press a certain button, once of the map the crew will be ready for use again. If you loose crew, it would cost you money along with the repairs to replace them, making it worthwhile.
Lifeboats would be an interesting mechanic to consider if Crew were more of a limited resource, alongside things like wood, steel, and Suspendium. Although I would suggest lifeboats remain something only large capital ships can afford to have, or perhaps even smaller support vessels built for the express function of serving as a medevac.
this is one of the sole purposes i wish my MASH mod could have, Medevac, via aircraft moving from ship to ship, but it seems unlikely in the current state of the game :/
What I would like to see is more post-battle options in general, not just for crew conservation. I want to use massive support ships loaded down with repair tools, in order to put ships in working condition(or at least repairing them enough to transport to the nearest city). I'd like to ransom wounded ships back to the enemy or capture them myself (ones that, if it weren't for my on-field repairs, would have been lost entirely).
All I want for Valentines Day is v1.0 and a DLC announcement - so that we can begin putting this title into the right circles and actually build on it. So that we can reliably promote the fact we know exactly how this demographic works.
Place yo' bets: who thinks it will be done 2018? lol
I know some users reading this can agree that we're exhausted on it. There was some stuff the core player base wanted, didn't get, and I'm pretty sure all the kids who wanted multiplayer-campaign ran off to another game that had a structure built for multiplayer-campaign. They aren't going to stick around to support it...
So... cross your fingers. I know it's bitter... but what's happening here? lol
Episode V: The Troops Strike Back... or is this VI: Return Of The Troops? Can't wait for VII: The Troops Awaken, things should begin picking up then...
...it's definitely not VIII: The Last Troop Request - we're a long ways off from that.
I don't mean to offend, but I'm pretty sure you're the only person I've heard that would like the game released that early. It's not importantly to have mass amounts of people constantly playing the game, but I personally care very little for Airships Multiplayer so I might be biased. People are always discovering the game and coming in anyway, so it's not even an issue. Really not sure where you've been Psyringe, the Discord is seeing a lot of use lately. And 95% of the reviews on this game remain overwhelmingly positive, with another 3% having a bug related issue or are simply trolling. A very small amount of people that have played this game do not like it. They're really no major issues at the moment, and any that do exist are going to be fixed in the future or can be currently fixed by modding.
Yes Psy, Discord is used to organize software piracy... and almost every other type of community under the sun. It's pretty much an IRC/voice client with a nice coat of paint that can run on any device (and has a team to support it), has powerful and in-depth options for managing and building servers, and it isn't nearly as heavy on the PC as other options like Skype or Teamchat.
Personally, I use Discord as an alternative to social media. I keep up with my friends on one server, chatter and socialize on an esoteric art server, connect to other servers as I feel the need to, and (you guessed it) keep up to date on Airships by checking in on the official server.
Basically, Discord suits the needs of software pirates because Discord is a good program in general.
There's a whole new set of exploits on the rise that literally lets Pirates connect to Steam servers. They aren't big right now... I'm just in the underground scene. Pretty sure every PR/Marketing guy is, we have to be to see the threats coming. These exploits will be on every other game in about 6 months, but they do not affect this title.
All the exploit requires is an "underground member" to be "in the room". Then any other person in the Discord room can play on Steam. Does that make sense?
Doesn't even need the BRIDGE API to work. lol
The other players in the room... they don't even know.
If you used the web client exclusively, it is possible to temporarily reserve a username before completely signing up for Discord. Is it possible you hadn't created an account?
Also, hearing about your adventures in time is certainly interesting. I'd like to hear more about it. :/p
Lifeboats and post-battle options/info would be interesting. If crew are more of a resource, or if they can gain experience, it becomes more important that they don't just die. Right now, crew live a special hellish experience where whenever the ship is repaired, they're technically speaking deleted and recreated. :P
Note that "would be interesting" is code for "this doesn't fit into the development plan". But it would fit very well into the planned Expansion #2, which is meant to be about commanders and crew and stuff like that.
The way I envision such a post-battle screen would be to find all ships that would be destroyed otherwise on the battlefield, and then allow all the repair tool capability available in the winning fleet be used as a "currency" to build entirely new modules and attach them to "derelict ships" (this almost goes without saying, but these options would only be available to those who win the battle).
Without SIGNIFICANT investment in repair bays and probably a repair-tool-stuffed flagship that never leaves the reserves, this would have limited applications like slapping a sail and balloons on a maimed ship. The whole idea is that these are just "good enough" modifications so the ship can limp back to a city for its REAL remodeling/repair.

Well, not saying "Discord is Evil".
