¡Hey there! I love this game, how it is simple and complex at the same time :D
I have a few ideas anyway which maybe you like:
-Bazooka troops; they should come in 1/2 or 1/3 of the regular marines numbers, so you could make an "assault army" in which your vehicles serve as support for your infantry
-"Snipers"; in the same sense as bazooka troopers, should come like 1/4 or less than regular marine numbers, they would prioritize gatling guns, rifles, grenade launchers, etc and would bypass armor if there is a window and enemies on the spot
-Hospital modules/ships; Keeping the infantry focus fleet design, an unarmored (as requirement) vehicle/ship which would serve as hospital for your forces (Healing boost or actually replacing dead crewmen at slow rate)
-Logistics modules/ships; Similar to the hopsital one, but with coal, ammo and repairs, it would have to be on boarding distance to allied ships and the crew would jump from one ship to another bringing the goods in stock order (From less to more). If the crewmen gets killed the resources are lost. The crew would have to go back inside the logistical ship in order to go away/resupply
-Actual sea and seaships, as it may sound a little stupid, IMO it would give a deeper look on tactics, when designing a land vehicle you have to take care of its manouverability in order to surpass obstacles or ramps. The ships wouldn't have this problem, but would have to take care of its keel/bottom and weight, so it floats and doesn't get stuck on the seafloor. Propulsion and lift elements could be actually the same (Propellers and helium tanks under floating line as "air" and sea propellers)
Ships wouldn't have so many lift problems as airships (less coal and no lift generators) and could serve as heavy fire/damage soakers, but would be vulnerable to air attacks (A bomber ship would crush it)
Also it would make great amphibious invasions, naval battles, a better tactical campaign (So you could attack cities from across the sea without airships).
Also making disembarkinh ships could be cool, like a mobile deploy point for your reserve vehicles
-Repairing planes and balloons; It would be nice to be able to repair your planes and balloons from scratch by paying about twice it's repair price; lets say a plane is worth 10 repair units, if it gets downed, you could pay 15-20 to remake it (10 for the plane 5-10 for logistical price of moving warstock over the frontline)
-When players share ships and those get some steam likes/suscribes or in the forum, the ships could be posted in some "in-game" browser, so players can download it and rate it (Keeping the name of the ship and making it not editable if the creator doesn't want to). This would help newbies to get some starting good ships and learn some design skills by seeing those ships interior. I know steam workshop actually does it, but you cannot know it's fighting capabilities from there, and the playerbase isn't so big to allow ships to proliferate
(Also most of steam workshop ships require a lot of mods, it would be great a "community standard pack" which would allow higher ship and player compatibility)
-Some diplomacy on campaign would be great; sharing techs and designs. AFAIK only AI can do it, merging their civs, with players could work as a no agression pact+trade+techs
-CO-OP Missions; it would be great being able to play with a friend against the machine with each one's ship (Each mission would have different techs and so, shown in like a debriefing, then it would proceed on to design round, and then finally the mission).
-Versus missions, it would be great being able to load battles and missions from workshop, in which each player takes a role; defender-attacker, ambusher-ambushed, etc. And uses the given ship designs (Which would have to be included in the mission)
-Bonus: Choppers or V-TOLs would be great, like a counter to small tanks; these should have a limited weight lifting and only a small vertical propeller, which woul give speed and lift. This would make the helis small and susceptible to small gun fire like Flaks, gatlings, or rockets
¡Thanks for your work man! Some of my ideas might take 2 much work, but had to propose them anyway :D Sorry for the mispellings, english ain't my native language D:
