I feel this is a long overdue feature for some of our much larger air/landships.
The command centre is a 2x4 command module designed for very large ships, it is better command wise than two normal bridges when placed at the top without anything around it. It also would add a much needed aesthetic touch to ship designs, as the bridge is external and has it's own outside detail.
Command Centre:"Only the finest and most advanced communications and navigation technology for the captains of the largest of ships in your fleet. Without a working bridge or cockpit, you cannot give orders in battle or see the inside of the ship."
Cost: $90
Weight: 140
HP: 1050
Provides 20 command
Operators: 6
Recommended crew: 6
Must have no obstructions up, left, or right.
External, has no walls but still moderately protects crew.
The idea is to better help make huge ships more wieldy in combat, as well as provide a meaningful choice of protection vs response time (as embedding two bridges in your ship is much worse for command time but easier to protect).
That seems like an idea that could be implemented without too much hassle... cough Landships cough. They only thing that I can imagine being a problem with this is the fact that it requires you to have a normal bridge or a cockpit to even use it. I understand this is for larger ships but that's just add's the unnecessary hassle of trying to fit a bridge/cockpit into a ship layout while already having a module that has so many requirements (no obstructions) you practically have to build the ship around it.
I feel like the phrases "huge ships" and "wieldy in combat" are inherently at odds with one another. Adding a 2x4 module to the top isn't going to help much with that either.
I can't help but agree with 71. The only major advantage smaller ships have to larger ones is their fast response time and maneuverability. Having a large ahip with a fast response time? In one word, overpowered.
Did I ever say "To make huge ships move on par with small ones"?, when I said "wieldy in combat" I meant being able to position them without needing to wait 15+ seconds every time.
Plus a 3x1 bridge on a 30x10+ ship isn't doing it any favors, either.
(Re reading, that seems kinda like an aggressive way of saying that but I meant no insult or anything.

I just don't think it's a big priority, especially given there's a popular mod that does exactly this, without the heavy placement restrictions.

Something tells me that modders onto something... It would be nice to have in the base game...
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
That was the inspiration for this post actually.

Ah. I see.

Yeah, I like the idea. And the placement restrictions means it can be a bit more effective than usual, because you're giving up your "top slot".
