Like repair arms that repair nearby ships, shields etc, and as someone has suggested before: water cannons to put out fires? Maybe? Or would be too exploitable somehow?
Or is this idea already going to be implemented? because if it is i feel stupid already. XD
Shields have already been talked about before... We ended up agreeing it would be very difficult to do right but still a possibility. And yes, I was the one that suggested water cannons. No response on that so far.
If the repair arms were say, suspendium torpedo sized you wouldn't be able to exploit them on a ship.
I also think we could allow them to repair walls, since that would finally let you do that without the problems that come from ships being able to repair their own walls as discussed earlier.
How about a communication system, like the one Firebird11 suggested, that can give orders to other ships, this way if they destroyed the bridge of a ship, we can still give orders to it and see the inside.
Speaking of support modules, a 2x2 anti-boarding-system would be an interesting addition.
The ABS would be a 360* turret that has no placement restrictions (meaning it is unique and can go inside of ships), but at the cost of very short range and a high reload time after each volley. The ABS can only shoot enemy crew/boarders/not vehicles.
The idea is that it can shoot at enemy boarders before they even get in your ship by attacking them while they are on the outside, but the mechanisms require coal and ammo to function as well as two crew members.
The high reload time after each volley means any surviving boarders will have no more opposition than normal after the turret finishes firing.

That idea would only work if it was a locked tech and the ships had some sort of radio receiver. Still, it does sound pretty good.

That seems like a good idea... Except ships will be able to target boarders/crew by Dev 9. So in other words the idea is completely obsolete.
