Some ideas for heraldry, put more ideas below.
Beaver: Ships are built quicker
Fasces: Ship command cool-down reduced by 15%
Serpent (Caduceus): Crew has more health and heal faster
Pickaxe: Stone has more health
I like Beaver and Caduceus. Pickaxe is too similar to tower, I think. And while I know that the fasces is a common heraldic symbol used in all kinds of contexts, I just don't want to put in stuff that's going to get used by neo-nazis. It's annoying enough having to delete the occasional Swastika-adorned screenshot.
Haven't looked at the tower charge, but wouldn't it look very different?
Agreed, fasces could cause problems.
Anyway, pt 2.
Owl: Start with random tech
Lantern: penalties from certain weather conditions reduced
Fire: increased explosive damage on weapons
Shovel: building forts and removing/placing soil is cheaper
Wings: Airships move faster both on map and battles
Sword/dagger or rifle: Guards have more health
You know what would be cool?
It's a game about airships.
Make airships have higher service ceiling or something. Better reload?
Not sure if airships are very common in heraldry XD. Besides, those buffs already exist with other charges.
it does not even have to be a buff. it could be one of those no buff ones. And, this is a game about airships. Why is there no airship crest?
If it has no buff then nobody would use it, so it should have a buff. Also, what would the charge look like? The frame is only 16x16.
a torch, either greco-roman bronze ala the Olympic torch or a medieval wrought iron sconce. Perhaps take less damage from fires, or set enemies on fire more often.
Straight swords in different orientations: each gives bonuses to attacking and defending. Maybe with boarders, maybe in general. I don't know the first thing about game balance.
Fleur de lis: I looked it up and apparently it's associated with sainthood, so probably something to do with the supernatural update? Or something to do with surrendering, har har.
Pike/halberd/whatever- or a jousting helmet: Get 50% or 25% more troops per infantry module. Or, guards/marines do jobs as well as air sailors.
Hart or Hart's head: ships move faster, or walker landships move faster.
Anchor: this might already be a thing, I'm not sure. Gives bonuses to ships that are still or grounded, probably by taking less damage or being more accurate. I'm guessing for balance the bonus will not kick in immediately after movement stops.
Hound: bonus to speed when intercepting.
Theow, hippogriff, gryphon: I would particularly like gryphons in support, but I don't think that's currently... well, supported.
Musket: bonuses to rifles. as if rifles need any buffs lol
Compass: probably the engineering type.
Ring of Rye: the peasants must produce more pig iron. Bonuses to city recovery rate.
Bee: sailors do jobs faster. Or something to do with the suspendium bees.
Wolf (hound) is already a thing.
Anchor is already a thing but has no bonus, kinda a tough one
Fleur de lis, idk if Zark wants to delve into religious stuff, but yes, very French
Rest of these sound pretty cool, especially the torch.
I think there needs to be more fields.
Prefer Ophiuchus over Caduceus and it could be easier/more attractive to design.
Although to get super technical Ophiuchus is Caduceus and predates it. I only know this falling in the date range of an abandoned chart.
Changing field orders would demand reworking of the alliance system. Sounds like a sequel directive but who knows?
Idea for heraldry: a rifle, increases accuracy
Olive Branch Crest: Less likely to be randomly attacked.
Randomly attacked? You mean monster spawns?
I'd love to have a buff that would make your sailors scuttle the ship or fight to the death when they're getting boarded instead of giving in. I didn't really think of what it would look like. Maybe just use one of the ones without a buff.
I think the crew gives in cuz they really don't know how to fight XD.
Hmm, good point, for all your Baratheon-RPing needs. Suggestions for the effect?
Maybe a new troop type? War hammer wielding maniacs? ours is the fury after all
Stags are "kings of the forest" so maybe something relating to that.
Also, how about a bear for House Mormont?
Hmm, yeah. Already got a bunch of wood-related bonuses, so I'm not sure what the king of the forest thing could be.
The Interweb tells me the Stag represents "One who will not fight unless provoked; peace and harmony". So maybe a bonus for defending ships?
The same page lists the Bear as "Strength, cunning, ferocity in the protection of one's kindred" - could enable heavy cannon?
Would agree with both those statements.
