A few new steel armor types. Riveted, cast, and welded. each has a light, medium and heavy variant. Riveted is the one with the most health, but has the most weight. Cast is the lightest, and the weakest. Welded is the intermediate of all the types.
I would think riveted should be the lowest one. Riveted armored was the easiest to make and took the lowest amount of labor. Rivets were also an incredible danger to a crew since an explosion could sent the rivets into the tank ripping apart crew and destroying equipment.
"The main disadvantage was that bolts and rivets had a tendency to come loose when the vehicle was hit - bolts and rivets could fly around like shrapnel inside a vehicle even at a non-penetrative hit, killing or injuring crew and damaging or destroying vital systems inside the vehicle."
This is how armor was ranked for ww2 tanks in terms of progression. Rivets(pre-early war) Cast (early-mid war) Welding (mid-late war). I would think health and resistance wise it should follow the same trend.
I've never understood why wood is included - the stuff is worthless; heavy, and not inexpensive.
Coated Canvas would be a much better choice - since its FAR lighter, and cheap and wood does not provide any protection anyways - why not save the weight too?
Wood armor is certainly not my favorite but it has its place in the game. For super cheap ships and budget vessels it is a viable armor. Coated Canvas would be interesting but we already have steel wall, wood wall, and dragonhide. A variety of cheap and expensive light weight options for an airship to use.
Canvas would be really good to have, especially considering that real life aircraft used to use it for their skins. I'm not sure how you'd make it distinct from wooden walls... Maybe it could have zero weight like dragon armor, though I'm unsure if it would be tougher or weaker than wooden walls.
I'm thinking Canvas would actually have a 0 weight - but affects the structural integrity of the module its wrapped around; e.g. -5 HP
Wood should either bolster module integrity (+5) or be neutral...
Things like Boiled leather or some primitive composite armour made with resin and animal-hide makes sense here; low weight plus some protection from projectiles.

You fail to understand armor types

Ooh, that riveted/cast/welded distinction is very interesting, thank you.
I'm considering adding canvas as an armour type, but I'm not sure if it would be distinct enough from wooden wall.
