Everyone agrees that fire extinguishers are great. In fact, I feel guilty using my multiplayer extinguisher enabled ships vs guys using their ships from the solo game.
Maybe drop fire extinguisher water from 8 to 5.
I bet this 37.5% drop in effectiveness would result in a 0% drop in demand!
Bonus suggestion:
How about a corridor with bucket of water ($1 extra, 1 unit water).
I personally never use the fire extinguisher because of the unlock requirement meaning if I use it I will need to either edit every design per campaign or have two sets of extinguisher and extinguisher-less ships.
For that reason coupled with the potentially lower capacity being discussed I'm also wondering if it'd also be worth removing that unlock as well and make it so it won't replace fire points 100% of the time.
The idea being that since the fire extinguisher is such a common and useful module it should be a piece of standard equipment but be inferior to the fire point (to keep it relevant), except for the size it takes up on an airship.
Or just slightly lower the extinguisher amount and remove the requirement, and then increase the fire point capacity by 10 or so.
On a side-note, has anybody heard from Zarkonnen? The last interaction on this forum was from two weeks ago which seems uncharacteristic of him.
Just having the extinguisher slow down crew like a fire door would easily fix that problem and keep corridors relevant. Crew speed is already something that can be affected so this would be an easy change.
Losing extinguishers would be a blow to all smaller airships as they normally can't fit a fire point very well or risk always being destroyed by fire. So extinguishers fill a vital role that fire points or corridors won't replace/be replaced by.

I know I would take a bucket of water with me.
Captain
Hmmm I think a minor nerf may be fair, reduce it to 5 or 6 water instead. Would still remain pretty popular.
Lieutenant
I hope is doesn't get nerfed. If it does I think it should be 6 and no lower.
Commodore
Down with this, considering I'm always telling myself "I'll get to those darn fire extinguishers", but never do.

I'd push for complete removal.
The fire extinguisher diminishes the value of the corridor; I've expressed this on a couple of occasions.
Anything but a price change.
