What do you think about spore?
Now i know the game by now is old news, but what do you think it could have been if EA didn't bugger it halfway?
Even to this day the 2006 version seems a close rival for no man's sky.
Anyway, give me your thoughts on this.
Was it EA specifically who buggered it up? That demo does look better than the final product, I don't remember seeing it before. Anyways, my opinion of Spore pretty much mirrors everybody else's opinion - the creature editor was awesome, the actual game was bland. Even the space stage pissed me off, I have to do everything for my nation personally, 4X style, but I can only control one ship? WTF?
Anyways, I did get the Galactic Adventures expansion pack, and I really enjoyed it because I could just focus on an individual character and his personal adventures.
Well, more specifically half of maxis wanted spore to be all simple and cutey so that they could sell more copies.(Wider range of buyers)
While the other half wanted to keep it realistic.
Well, EA being a company that hardly ever develops a game for anything other than money sided with the half of maxis that wanted spore to be a kid friendly game. And since they at this pointed owned maxis, they simply ordered the other half of the team to comply.
Spore would of been great if they went more technical into the evolution aspect, and focused less on the post evolution stages.
Running around as some prehistoric creature, evolving through a somewhat compressed timeframe was fun.
Using tanks that were just static models drive across a map wasnt...
It was just a bundle of half a dozen half developed games really... Could of been so much more, could of been SimEarth but in a closer perspective, battling the enviroment along with other creatures.

Well, the 2006 copy was very good. To bad it's nowhere on the internet. :P
