No one says they are all one size. I am just pointing out that they would not really be huge. They would have to be big enough to fit someone in their mouth of course, but if they were to big then, well. It would make it impossible to eat people without killing them through other means.
I don't really see the nutcrackers battling airships.
I more see them as a horrid monster that prowls a city at night, or something that your troops encounter while on the move.
i would like to see how zarkonnen sees how the monster should look like. i think the heay armor spider and gaigantic flying brain monster thing?
something with a lot of tissues and a few gaint bloaten 'cells' that keep something that is lighther then air. Yes that would be a very intresting monster desing. tentecal and acid spitting mounths ( a bit like the wall of flesh in terraria). and it also would release smaller floating heaps of intestence that can ram or stick to your ship and wieght you down.
how would the spider fight against airships? i have no idea... trowing rocks? huge damage very inacture? but then it would become a very rng monster to fight then... and thats no fun.
Now, since the nutcrackers seem to be shaping up similarly to bio-warfare(I.E: something you toss into enemy territory). Will there be a nutcracker module for airships which when used in enemy territory will drop several nutcrackers which will stay in the territory even when the battle is finished? Will they reduce the population, garrison, and moral of the territory until the last of the nutcrackers are destroyed?
Or, are you just planning on having the nutcrackers as something that will occasionally be found in territories during battle?
I'd like to see the nutcrackers as an uncommon random enemy that's both fast, strong (but land based, able to jump?) and indiscriminately targets things, something to make players go "OH SHIT!" when the find one.
Yeah, but it would still be nice to "fling" nutcrackers into enemy territory. Of course it would only be fair if the nutcrackers would still attack you.
On a side note... How about fog-of-war for battles? Since we will be encountering monsters of all types it would be nice if you did not know where they are if there were any in the battle at all.
I don't think nutcrackers are capable of jumping. :P
They would need some form of "tendon" for that i think.
Also, i do not think the robots would be fast, they might not even be as fast as marines,
I'm sorry, but the nutcrackers are most likely just going to be like a crew member.
Dude, creepy and functional are two different things. Zarkonnen said before the things like spiders or nutcrackers will be for attacking ground troops and buildings.
How is ANYTHING going to be cool, creepy, or unique if it has essentially the same function as everything else?
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
Yup.
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
Who says they are all one size? Nothing spells terror like flesh eating robots more than giant flesh eating robots!
Air Admiral

Air Admiral
Of course the person would not have to be alive to be eaten... Ok forget what i said. Bring on the psycho crackers!
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
We need the big ones to crack airships, and then the little ones are for cracking bones. (wow that sounds horrid)
Air Admiral
I don't really see the nutcrackers battling airships. I more see them as a horrid monster that prowls a city at night, or something that your troops encounter while on the move.
Aerial Emperor
and then the little ones are for cracking bones
Well, I guess I know now what the first product in the tie-in toy line will be.
Air Admiral
BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAhaHHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Cough Cough
Ok, maybe i got a little carried away...
Midshipman

I think the spiders are just supposed to be for the ground...

Midshipman
they could realease a lot of steam downwards in a short burst to get some jumping ation. then they probably break the suspension from the landing :P
Air Admiral
however that would require a huge amount of steam and might break the creepy factor for the nutcracker.
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
Actually i think it would add to the 'creepy factor' if there was a fog following everywhere the thing went...
Air Admiral
Yeah, but being a able to blast off the ground?
Air Lord, Engineering Corps
Okay that does seem a bit strange, I think a better alternative would be to have the machine carry flechettes or something to lob at flying things.
Air Admiral
Perhaps, but i doubt the nutcrackers would be smart enough to calculate a lob.
Midshipman
maybe he can vomit/spit out the intestence of the people has eaten to use it as projectiles?
otherwise it just need sto act like a mahcine gun. one of those flechettes is going to hit.
Air Admiral
Ok, but i'm not one for the nutcrackers to have any interesting non-creepy buffs.
Air Admiral
I'm sorry, but the nutcrackers are most likely just going to be like a crew member. Dude, creepy and functional are two different things. Zarkonnen said before the things like spiders or nutcrackers will be for attacking ground troops and buildings.

Aerial Emperor
I'm cheerfully letting you guys speculate here, but I would suggest you have a closer look at its right arm...
Midshipman
O_O that explains verything. Que the xfiles music! wait what re the spiders going to have then???!
Air Admiral
The right arm is for grabbing stuff to throw? Ok, that sounds better than lobbing internal organs at airships, or having a spike cannon in the back.
Air Admiral
Actually, which right arm? Because the fleshcracker's right arm looks a bit like a Gatling gun.
Air Admiral
I would recommend chopping off the tip of the Gatling gun however so we can more easily see what it is.
