The world has been in constant turmoil for hundreds of years. As such we have advanced at a far greater rate then we would have otherwise been able to. And i dr. H Carwellis have had the honor of testing these various advancements!
Often the technology can not match the goal. We just simply could not design machines of the necessary complexity to have any sort of meaningful impact for their size, i speak of course of the application of intelligence ,specifically in smaller automatons.
That was until the glorious discovery of the artifacts(Which i tested).
Before the great cataclysm humanity seemed to be quite technologically sophisticated, how barbaric they must have been...
These artifacts are of incomprehensible complexity, and as such are the only thing we have that can be used to create an automaton that is anywhere close to human size and intelligence. Though it must be noted that these artifacts are largely degraded and rusted, and as such automatons have a habit of ahem "malfunctioning."
We have also begun the creation and testing of our own "minds," and advanced machinery, but it's dully noted by my peers and i that we are as of now not able to create machines that are of the same size and efficiency as the artifacts. Meaning machines that even gets close to the same level of complexity that is found in the artifacts would be so bulky and cumbersome that the absolute minimum housing/body size would be that of a titan.

Regardless, we plan to continue the construction.
