here are 9 (6 offscreen) of my powerfull "Nebuchadnezzar class" (technically the third "light" version of the craft, as previous versions had module prerequisites, other than, of course, biplanes, which {as you can tell by my Heraldry flag} i had used.)
they each house (iirc) 3 biplanes, and 2 triplanes, and 11 hussars, with a total of 45 planes in-air, and 99 hussars in-air.
this screenshot was taken in the campaign, on the hardest difficulty, and on the largest map.
the thing with cover ships is that bullets travel in several planes of 2D: one for each "block," I guess. the only thing that cover ships would do is increase those "blocks," but they won't actually stop bullets aimed for other ships.

(i hope this link works)

That's actually pretty good. Is it a support craft?
Commodore
its an aircraft carrier, a frontline airship
Commodore
Hmmm... I would recommend making some sort of cover ship for it.
Commodore
well, ive made many more variations of carriers since this one, they are much better now, this was at the very beginning of the beta version

Midshipman
Not bad, I managed to make a carrier with over 80 hussars, but its pretty weak to attack
